So yes that's what we did do - found a radio of course that was our downtime plan - thank goodness for the Red Sox Radio Network. As MLB online was blacked out for us... Kept the radio on when the game finally came on - but the radio is like 5 seconds ahead of the TV - so it's like opening Christmas presents early - you know what happens before it does.

Varitek - captain comes through - nice to see that - not the hero I would have expected.
"And the Red Sox win 8-7. Can you believe it?"

What can you say except - THAT is why we love this team. Is it over? It's never over and it is never easy and that is why year after year, season after season, we love this team and we keep coming back for more.

My brother was at Game 4 against the Yankees when the Sox began the 04 miracle. Last year my husband and I saw the Clay Buchholz no-hitter. Last night my nephew drove to Providence to pick up friends, then up to Boston - arrived when the Sox were down 5-0 and had an experience he will never forget - THAT is why we love this team. (And don't you know the phone rang at 6:45 this morning so my sister-in-law could tell me that? Yes, we are Red Sox fans.)

I had the opportunity to be a guest on the 'Corn, Gordon and Flanagan on the Red Sox' Podcast this week - very fun interview - check it out here: http://corngordon.mypodcasts.net/ . They are the Best Red Sox Podcast on the web and I hope to join them again during their World Series chats!

Go Sox - Cowboy up Josh.

Daisuke = excellent performance. But he does make your blood pressure go up from time to time. A study in how to react under presure that one gives every game.

Bullpen = another excellent performance. Shut Them Down!

Tampa Bay Rays - OK things I wonder about:

Are they the only team named after a body of water?

Are the cowbells free or do the fans have to buy them? In Fenway we don't need bells - Sox fans (myself included) are LOUD.

Why the cowbells - I've been to St Pete over a dozen times - never saw a cow?

Why did they lose the Devil in their name?

Lots of new Tampa fans there it seems - never seen that ballpark so full - but it looked like the Nation was well represented!

On to game 2 - is Beckett ready? I'm betting, yes.

Predictions:

Sox in 6 - change it to 5 if Beckett wins today.

Daisuke is the World Series MVP.

Start is 8:07 - how good is that - but where are Don and Remdawg?

Sox in four - sending LA home in fine fashion. A little tense there in the 9th but excellent baseball - glad there is no return ticket to LA needed for the Sox.

Players of the game - could it be Bay - should it be Manny DelCarmen for his excellent pitching to close the game? (And we met him and have his autograph!) Varitek hits and makes a great play and Pedroia hits as well - time to bring on the Rays. Lester's pitching - is outstanding a strong enough adjective?

Prediction - Sox in 6 over the Rays - at least these games are at home - but productivity in NE once again declines due to those 4:00 starts - don't these people making the schedule know we're working!?

Bring it on - with a few bonus days thrown into catch up on our sleep!
